To become eligible to apply for the title “AUSTRALIAN CHAMPION“, a dog must have won not less than 100 points.
At various times there has also been an age requirement i.e. at least 25 points to be awarded after the dog is 12 months of age. . .
Points are calculated as follows:
Dog and Bitch Challenge 5 points + 1 for each of that sex judged in the Breed
Best of Breed – 5 points + 1 for each dog and bitch judged in the Breed
Best in Group – 5 points + 1 for each exhibit judged in the Group (maximum 25 points at any one show)
Best in Show – 5 points + 1 for each exhibit judged in the show (maximum 25 points at any one show)
The Grand Champion award was introduced in January 1998. Dogs require a minimum of 1,000 CC points.
